I earned a Bachelors Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in 2000 and a Law Degree from Suffolk University in Boston, MA 2005. I have been practicing Patent Law for well over 12 years from both litigation and prosecution law firms, representing many large corporations.
I started my firm in 2011 to actually help inventors and entrepreneurs protect and prototype their inventions. As an inventor and entrepreneur myself, I understand the challenges involved in building a product from the ground up. I focus on helping inventors protect their inventions so that they can focus on working on developing their ideas. I am a patent attorney and biomedical engineer but have always been an inventor and entrepreneur at heart. For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by the way things worked. As a young kid, I would often take apart everything just to see how it worked. While in middle school, I built a go-kart from the ground up. Later, I went on to become a biomedical engineer focused on designing and developing innovative medical devices. Although I enjoyed working as an engineer, I had a desire to become more involved in new and innovative technology as a patent attorney. While working full time, I went to law school at nights for four years. After graduation, I began my legal career working at a small Patent Litigation law firm in Boston. There, I learned valuable insights into the strategies for defending and attacking issued patents. I then went on to work at patent laws firm in Connecticut and in Washington, DC, where I further developed my skills obtaining patents for several Fortune 500 Companies. I, however, always kept in mind that one day I would start my own firm so that I could help inventors with all aspects of their invention from protecting to designing and engineering a prototype.
At the Law Office of Jerry Joseph, PLC, I strive to cost-effectively help inventors along the entire process from conducting a patent search to preparing and filing a patent applications.
